Amy is available for private and public yoga and aerial yoga classes. In private classes, you can receive one-on-one training or gather some friends and enjoy the experience together. If you are interested in small group public classes, you can join Amy at two convenient locations.
Basic Yoga
A Basic Yoga class will focus on teaching students the primary poses of a yoga practice. Each class will focus on moving students deliberately through poses to increase body awareness and lengthen and strengthen core muscles. A Basic Yoga class is open and beneficial to beginners and well-practiced yogis alike. This class will also introduce students to recognizing their breath patterns and developing the breath to benefit students on the mat and in day-to-day situations.
Intermediate Yoga
The Intermediate Yoga class will move somewhat quicker than the Basic Yoga with the belief that students attending the class have had some background practice in Hatha Yoga. The classes will be structured so that the body is prepped and strengthened for a "peak" pose toward the end of class, generally an inversion or arm balance. Students will also continue to deepen their breath work.
Yoga for athletes
Athletes have specific needs for their bodies. Strong bodies that undergo repetitive motion need special care which can be found through lengthening the muscles, protecting the fascia and strengthening the inner core muscles. This class will focus on protecting athletes by accomplishing the above mentioned actions. While the class is designed for athletes, everyone is welcome.
Introduction to Aerial Yoga
Aerial Yoga is practiced in and out of silk hammocks that hang from the ceiling. The purpose of the introduction class is to allow students time to orient themselves to the feel of using the fabric as part of their yoga practice. This class also introduces students to various "hangs", which is how the fabric is placed against the body to safely use the hammock in various movements. The understanding and use of different hangs allows students to experience the benefits of inverting themselves fully off the ground. Aerial Yoga adds a sense of freedom to the yoga practice and provides clients with enormous spinal benefits.
Aerial Fitness
While using the skills and awareness created in the Introduction to Aerial Yoga classes, Aerial Fitness allows students to enjoy a more physical practice. Students will experience a more advanced level of inversions and use their body weight and the hammocks to increase muscle tone and strength. Students must demonstrate a level of competency in the hammock before attending an Aerial Fitness class.
